Abstract

[Class 39 (i).] To reduce the fluctuations of pressure occurring within an anode shield 2, openings 4 are provided in the shield near the anode face 1, communicating with an auxiliary closed chamber 3 which is completely isolated from the current - carrying parts. Baffles 5 facilitate the deionization of vapour and prevent the occurrence of a discharge within the chamber 3 which, preferably, has a volume equal to that of the shield.
