Abstract

380,142. Mercury-vapour rectifiers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and WHITAKER, F. P., 237, Clifton Road, Warwick. March 11, 1931, No. 19257/32. Divided on 380,097. [Class 39 (i).] In a rectifier in which partitions 10 are provided for forming a sector for each anode 5, some or all of the anodes are provided with de-ionizing shielding fins 9 at the sides and, bottom so as to increase the effect - ive area presented to the arc. The fins may extend radially from the screens 8. or from the outer and inner cylindrical parts 1, 13 of the container and may be straight or curved ; or they may extend below the lower surface of the anode as described in Specification 380,097. The fins may be at the potential of the container, or insulated therefrom. Specification 344,388 also is referred to.
