Abstract
342,621. Moving signs. HORV‡TH, T. ERNST-, 10, Teybergasse, Vienna. May 12, 1930, No. 14609. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 15, 1930.] [Class 3 (i).] A telescopic advertising pillar comprises two or more display members which are continuously reciprocated. Figs. 2 and 4 show the operating mechanism for three members 1, 2, 3, the bottom member 1 of which is stationary. A motor 17 through worm gear 14, 15 drives a pinion 12 which engages a compound rack 7, 11. Starting from the bottom position the upper rack 11, carrying the member 3, is first raised till a bolt 9 attached to the lower rack 7 reaches the end of a slot 10 in the rack 11. A spring pawl 20 then takes under the rack 11, and the pinion 12 proceeds to raise the rack 7. The member 2 is lifted by engagement of its thickened rims with those of the member 3. The upward motion is reversed by a switch lever 23 being thrown over by a stop 22 on the rack 7. On the downward movement the pawl 20 is released by engagement with a stationary abutment 21, and a stop 25 on the rack 11- again reverses the motor. A single rack may be employed. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the member 3 is attached to a screwed shaft 27 mating with an internally and externally screwed sleeve 26 working in a worm-wheel 32 driven by a worm 33 connected to the motor. As the wheel 32 rotates the sleeve 26 rises, being prevented from rotation by a member 29 engaging a fixed guide 35. When the member 29 reaches the top of the guide 35 it engages recesses 34 in the wheel 32, thus coupling the wheel 32 and sleeve 26 and causing the non- rotatable' shaft 27 to rise further. The members 1, 2, 3 may be transparent and be internally illuminated.
