Abstract
342,452. Open-hearth furnaces. MOLL, H., Rasselstein, near Neuwied, Germany. Dec. 5, 1929, No. 37392. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii).] In an open-hearth smelting furnace in which the air regenerator extends to a level above the hearth, each air regenerator comprises a small upper part 3 connected to a larger lower part 1 by a horizontal channel and a movable slag receptacle 7 is provided below the upper part. The removal of slag &c. is thus facilitated and the usual dust chamber below the chamber 1 is replaced by an access passage. Similarly the connection 8 between the furnace and the gas regenerator is angular and contains a movable slag receptacle 9.
