340,737. Endless chain conveyers ; roller-way conveyers. SEMARK, F. W., (trading as BREWERS' EQUIPMENT CO.), 21, Bishop Street, ALLEN, J. H., 48, Willows Crescent, and RICE, W. E., 39, Melrose Road, Birchfield, all in Birmingham). Dec. 7, 1929, No. 37576. [Class 78 (i).] Cases 14 are transferred singly from a roller-way conveyer A to the feeding platform C of an elevator D by rollers 6, 7, 8, of which the roller 6 lifts the case from the plane of the conveyer A on to the top of the roller 7, and the rollers 7, 8 are driven to transfer it to the platform C. The roller 6 is mounted in a pair of connecting rods 9 actuated by eccentric or crank mechanism mounted on a shaft 10. The end bearings 9 of the roller 6 have a guided motion in slotted brackets 12. The shaft 10 is driven intermittently through chain-andsprocket gearing and a one-way clutch by a shaft 20 on which are fixed arms 21, 22. The arms 21 depend into the path of the propelling bars 5 carried by the endless chains 3 of the elevator D, and the arm 22 is acted on by a spring 23 in such a manner that the arms 21 return to the position shown after the passage of a bar 5.
