Abstract
340,152. Batt, B. A. Jan. 20, 1930. Impeller blades; balancing moving parts. - The impeller of a centrifugal pump used particularly for viscous fluids, has an approximately spiral blade c mounted on the disc a so as to form a path of approximately uniform cross section from inlet to outlet. The free edge of the blade lies close to the pump casing, but in a modification the spiral blade is arranged between two discs. The convolution of the blade is such that the rotor is balanced rotationally. The back of the disc a may be provided with three ribs d of different widths to assist in obtaining balance, and to throw outwards any liquid from behind the disc a in order to protect the stuffing-box for the spindle.
