Partitions and baffles in water space. - The upper drums 1 of boilers comprising two lower and two upper drums cross-connected by inclined generating tubes 4 and downcomers 5 are provided with a longitudinal submerged feed pipe 6 and a longitudinal baffle 7 between it and the generating tubes arranged so as to extend some distance above the feed pipe and inclined so that if produced its upper edge, which is free and forms a weir for the water flowing from the tubes, would intersect the vertical plane through the feed pipe axis. The feed pipes may have nozzles 8 led into the outermost row of tubes 5 or some of such tubes. Straight tubes 10 expanded into plates and separated into groups by header covers 11 may be arranged in the wing combustion spaces and used as superheaters or feed water heaters, and a. nest of air heating tubes 20 may be provided above the generating tubes.
