Abstract

335,800. Norrie, L. F. Nov. 14, 1929. Safety valves.-The valve member 1 of a safety valve is provided with an overhanging lip 2 forming a reaction surface 3 for escaping steam and has a piston portion 6 co-operating with a cylindrical neck 7 in the casing 8. The valve member 1 is provided with a series of ports 9 in the lip 2 for by-passing the steam from the reaction face 3 when the valve approaches the closed position as described in Specification 318,457.
