Abstract
334,597. Robinus, J. June 7, 1929. Segmental and block paving.-A road surface is inlaid with intersecting strips a of hard paving stone enclosing areas c which are provided with a plastic or granular filling material. The paving stones a may be arranged in grooves formed in a mixture of small stones &c. disposed on the foundation layer of the road, and the areas c are filled with small stones, tar macadam, or asphalt. In the case of asphalt roads, the paving stones may be arranged on a concrete base, and when applied to old roads they may be arranged in grooves cut in the asphalt. Specially shaped blocks may be provided at the intersecting points of a number of rows of paving stones. Projections may be provided on the side faces of the paving stones so as to engage with the filling material. The paving stones may be arranged to enclose areas in the form of rectangles, squares, circles &c.
