Flue-dust, removing.-In a boiler furnace, a dust-collecting chamber e.g. the dust chamber 1 of the water-tube boiler illustrated, discharges through a controllable passage way into the ashhopper 14 below the fire-bars, thus allowing ready removal of the dust without short-circuiting the furnace draught. The passage 3 (of which there may be several) is controlled by a damper 9 normally spring-closed against an angle-iron 7.
