Abstract

317,525. Imray, O. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). May 18, 1928. Insecticides. - Insecticidal preparations containing as active ingredients aromatic mono or poly-thiocyanates or aliphatic poly-thiocyanates comprise : (1) 144 parts colophony, 68 parts 25 per cent caustic soda lye, 100 parts alcohol, 82 parts of the first runnings of benzene distillation, 28 parts water and 20 parts benzyl-thiocyanate, stirred together while heating; or (2) a solution of 2.5 parts aniline-thiocyanate and 2.5 parts benzyl-thiocyarate in 10 parts a-chloronaphthalene and 5 parts butyl alcohol, mixed with 60 parts of an emulsifying agent such as a 50 per cent solution of sodium dibutyl naphthalene sulphonate or soap, and diluted to 100 parts with water. The above are stock preparations which may be diluted to form 4 per cent and 1-2 per cent solutions respectively for use as spraying agents. The thiocyanates referred to above may be replaced by other thiocyanates, for example, ethylene-dithiocyanate, styrol-thiocyanate, oxynaphthalene-thiocyanates and diphenylaminedithiocyanate.
