Abstract

Double windows; hingedsliding windows; fanlights; window stops; sashes balanced one against another.- The lower hingedsliding sashes of double windows are balanced one against the other by cords connected to a hinged part 29 of the bottom rail of the inner sash and pivot bearings 40 on the bottom rail of the outer sash and passing over upper and lower pulleys 36. A sliding bottom board 33 is adapted to be inserted beneath the inner sash when closed to support it. Wedges 41, 42, on the outer and inner sashes respectively at the middle thereof, are adapted to wedge the sashes against the frame when closed to prevent rattling. Upper fanlights are illustrated but not described; the inner sash opens by sliding into a recess. The sashes may be supported in intermediate open positions by means of suitable stops on the board 33. The joints between meeting rails are made wedge-shape.
