Oval-link chains.-Non-welded stud-links of high-resistance steel for chains, cables &c. are formed by inserting the cold ends 4, 5 of halflinks 1, 2 into sockets in the heated stud 3 and swaging the parts together. Alignment of the parts is facilitated by pins 7 inserted into mortises in the abutting end of the parts 1, 2.
