Abstract

314,421. American Laundry Machinery Co.., (Assignees of Otis, C. M.). June 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Multiple fastenings for hinged doors.-The hinged door 3 of a washing, drying, &c., machine is locked against the casing 1 by means of a number of fingers 13 carried by a shaft 12 which is mounted in brackets 11 secured below the lower edge of the door opening and actuated to swingthe fingers up against the ends of the hinge straps 5 by means of a member 14 on the shaft engaged by a projection 9 on the side of the door when the latter is closed, the parts being then locked by a cam 19 on a hand lever 18 engaging behind the lower part 15 of the member 14. The lower edge 16 of the member 14 is concentric with the shaft and coacts with the upper edge 21 of the hand lever to maintain the member 14 normally in contact with a stop 15<1>. The door is counterbalanced by cords 24 and spring pulleys 22.
