Abstract
309,363. Tannwalder Saumwollspinnfabrik, (Assignees of Broch, F.). May 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 296,100. Rollers and roller heads.-In the high draft arrangement described in the parent Specification wherein the small, intermediate top roller is in the form of a sleeve and is so arranged on its spindle that under pressure it assumes an oblique position relatively to the bottom roller and runs on the end thereof, the spindle is dispensed with and the assumption of an oblique position is assured by making one end of the roller hollow, as shown in Fig. 1, or by making the roller of parts 4,5, Fig. 2, of different specific gravities. the journal 3 running in the usual recess and the journal 2 being guided in a claw resting on the front or rear roller. By choosing suitable proportions the pressure D on the sliver L may be made as small as desired, and the weight P of the roller is preferably high so that it has a high inertia and the influence of accidental forces is thereby eliminated. Grooves, fluting, teeth, or like means may be provided on the ends of the rollers to effect a positive drive of the top roller by the bottom roller.
