Rollers and roller heads.-In high-draft roller heads the small, intermediate top roller 1 is in the form of a sleeve and is guided with clearance by a collar 4 on its spindle so spaced from the line of travel of the sliver L that under pressure it assumes an oblique position relatively to the bottom roller and runs on the end thereof. Grooves, fluting, teeth or like means may be provided to ensure effective, engagement of the rollers or to effect a positive driving of the top roller by the bottom roller. In the ordinary arrangement, wherein the top roller is guided so as to remain parallel with the bottom roller, grooves may be provided to ensure driving.
