Abstract

306,701. O'Neill, J. H. Feb. 20, 1928. Springs, arrangement of; guiding vertical play. - Independently mounted steering- wheels which may also be driven support the main frame through two sets of springs and an intermediate sliding member. The hub 2, Fig. 1, rotates inside a stub axle 9 having pivots 11, 12 which swivel for steering in the ends of arms 18, 20 projecting from the sliding member 19. The arms 18, 20 are slidable on the pivots 11, 12, the movement being controlled by springs 15, 16, Fig. 2, arranged between extensions 37, 38 from the stub axle 9 and a member 14 which carries the weight of the vehicle through the arm 18. The sliding member 19 is carried by guides 25 on the main frame 30 and its vertical movement is controlled by a spring 35, which may be an air spring as described in Specification 250,331, [Class 108 (iii), Springs &c.].
