Abstract

301,590. Biggs, F. Oct. 1, 1927. Vehicle windows; opening and closing apparatus. - A sliding vehicle window of the kind having a pivoted flap for hand-signalling, as described in Specification 275,783, is provided with telescopic spring-controlled links 9 acting between lugs 9<a> on the sliding frame and the pivoted members 7<a> carrying the flap 6, so as to hold the flap in the open or closed positions. The flap may be opened or closed by hand and is adapted to be automatically closed when the sliding window is lowered by means of the pivoted links 10, 11 which are actuated by the garnish rail 12 on the initial downward motions so as to raise the overlapping edge 6a of the flap. Rubber packing is provided between the glass and channels and between the meeting edges of the flap and upper fixed window 4 and also between the meeting edge of the flap and frame. The corners of the door aperture may be rounded or square and the edges of the window frame and flap correspondingly shaped. The lower sash member 3 has a weather-excluding strip and an attachment plate for the pin of the ordinary window-lifting lever.
