Abstract

294,103. Severin, J. July 16, 1927, [Convention date]. Rolling tubes; shew-rolling.-Seamless tubes are rolled from a hollow block 1 on a mandrel 2 by oblique rolls 3, 4, 5, 6, instead of a draw ring the rolls having slightly conical or cylindrical parts 7 for feeding, and swellings 3, 4 &c. which successively squeeze the metal to the desired thickness. The rolls are mounted in a casing to rotate planet wise round the work, and each roll can rotate independently on its axis. Fig. 11 shows the markings on the work of a. number of successively acting rolls of shape shown thereon.
