Abstract
369,627. Rolling tubes. MANNESMANNRÍHREN-WERKE, 1B, Berger Ufer, Dusseldorf, Germany. Dec. 22, 1930, No. 38604. Convention date, Aug. 19. [Class 83 (iv).] Pilger rolls are formed with three distinct zones, e.g. a gap zone a<1>, a working zone c<1>, and a compensating zone b<1>, the tube being rotated through 45‹ after each pass to give more even spreading of the metal. Fig. 4 shows a similar arrangement with four pilger rolls. The zones merge into a gripping portion as at K, Fig. 5.
