Abstract
1492948 Rolling tubes MANNESMANN AG 5 Nov 1974 [24 Jan 1974] 47727/74 Heading B3M A roll, Fig. 1, for a pilger rolling mill has a working portion b whose cross-section progressively reduces to a minimum at 8, without a final smoothing portion. The roll, in use, Fig. 2, is oscillated between extreme positions ET and AT, and has a portion a which is used to allow for rotatably and axially indexing a workpiece tube. A mill, Fig. 7, embodying two such rolls has a drawing die 22 located downstream of the rolls, the die being rotated synchronously with a feed-out chuck 21. The roll may have a modified profile (Fig. 4, not shown) which enables it to rotate through more than 360 degrees each rolling step.
