Pocket igniters, frictional.-An arm 28, carrying a wick-cap 65 is pivoted on the shaft 25 of the friction-wheel 26 and is held in the closed position against the action of a spring 35 by a latch 43, adapted to be moved laterally by turning a pivoted plate 46 against the action of a. spring 54 so as to release the arm. A block 40, formed with a shoulder 39 for engaging the latch, carries a spring-pawl 30, which engages ratchetteeth on one face of the wheel 26 so as to rotatethe latter during the upward movement of the arm 28. The latch 43 is pivoted at 44 in a fork on the plate 46 and held in the normal position. by a spring 47 and may be provided with a projection 59, by which it may be tilted to release the arm independently of the plate 46. The movement of the plate 46 is limited by a pin-andslot connection 57. When the arm 28 is depressed to return it to the normal position, the engagement of the bevelled edges 41, 42 causes the latch 43 to be rocked and re-engage the shoulder 39. The head 17 of the screw-plug 15 for the flint-tube 12 forms a cover for a container 66 for spare flints.
