Abstract
862,075. Cigarette lighters. RONSON PRODUCTS Ltd. Nov. 25, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958], No. 39138/58. Class 75 (3). An operating mechanism for a mechanical lighter comprises a spring-biased operating lever 10 mounted for pivotal movement and provided with means for operating the igniting mechanism, a bearing member 22 formed on or attached to the lighter body and providing a seat for a fulcrum pin 11 carried by the operating lever, a cranked member 24 pivotally mounted between its ends interposed between the lighter body and the operating lever and spring means anchored by the bearing member and connected to the cranked member for urging the cranked member into such a position as to retain the operating lever in an assembled inoperative position from which it can be moved at will to actuate the igniting mechanism. The cranked member is pivotally mounted on a pivot pin 25 which is mounted on the lighter body or on the operating lever or on a channel element 26 which is a tight fit in a corresponding recess in the lighter body or in the operating lever. One or more rollers 29 may be mounted at one end of the cranked member. The lever has a rack at one end which engages a pinion driving the friction wheel 17 for igniting the gas from a burner valve 18.
