Abstract

Receptacles, detachably securing to flat bases.-A securing device for attaching trunks &c. to the grids or carriers of motor vehicles comprises a V-shaped tension element a having a two point connection with the trunk b and a single point connection with the carrier d, or vice versa, screws a<3> being provided for applying the tension so as to bring the element a into gripping engagement with the carrier In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the element a is formed from a single piece of wire having a hook a<1> at the apex of the V, while the ends of the wire are screw-threaded and passed through sockets in plates c mounted on the trunk and engaged by the nuts a<3>. In order to provide for small movements of the element a in adjusting or releasing the same, the sockets in the plates are made conical. In place of a single wire the element a may be formed of two wires connected at the apex of the V by a separate hook or prong part. In a further construction, Fig. 6, the e1ement a is in the form of an inverted V having at its ends two grid-engaging prongs a<5>, and at its apex ai pivoted or fixed screw e co-operating with a socket f on the trunk.
