Jigging conveyers.-Mechanism for converting rotary into reciprocating motion, for conveyers, or shakers, is wholly or partially enclosed in a casing and transmits the desired motion through a movable part of the casing which maintains the latter always closed. As shown, the mechanism enclosed in a casing k comprises herring-bone gears a, b, driven from a motor m through gear-wheels h, i, the gear-wheels b being fixed on a crankshaft c. A connecting- rod d, comprising a frame with adjustable bearings, oscillates a toother rocker arm e which reciprocates the casing cover n, the movement of the latter being transmitted to the conveyer r either directly or through buffers p. The cover n which is of such a length as to always close the casing, and which may have an oscillating motion, may form a part of the conveyer or may operate the conveyer through rods levers ,ropes chains or, the like. The gear-wheel h serves as a flywheel or belt pulley. An additional flywheel j may also be provided.
