Abstract
265,756. Rase, W., and Rose Bros. (Gainsborough), Ltd. Jan. 1.5, 1926. Packeting by wrapping-up.-Relates to apparatus for wrapping batches of cigarettes, cartons, or like articles, and in which an open-ended pouch is formed and is actuated to travel with the closed end leading, while folders turn in the projecting ends of the wrapper on to the article. As shown, an open-ended container 1 is moved by a device (not shown) in the direction of the arrow, side folders 5, 6 turning in the laterally disposed parts of the projecting wrapper. Each folder comprises a main part 6 and upper and lower horizontal rearwardly extending surfaces 9, 10. The distance between these surfaces is equal to or slightly less than the thickness of the article, and the plates 3, 4, between which the article is travelling, are cut away and provided with a bevelled and turned up edge 19. The folds 11 - - 14 are formed in the cut away portions and are thus free to curl upwards and downwards as shown at 12, 14, and are subsequently creased in predetermined positions by the edges 19, during the simultaneous travel of the folders and the packet.
