Abstract
339,879. Southall & Smith, Ltd., and Hollies, J. Feb. 15, 1930. Packeting by wrapping-up. - In machines for wrapping sweetmeats, and of the kind in which the article is pushed, with a foil &c. wrapper, through an annular brush or flexible diaphragm to effect the wrapping, the delivery conveyer is arranged to be momentarily moved beneath the folding mechanism. The article d to be wrapped is brought over a vertically movable plunger o which carries it, with a wrapper p, through a brush r and into the grip of tongs f. The bottom edges of the wrapper having been folded up by any suitable mechanism, a slide e carrying a roller c, around which the delivery conveyer passes, is moved to the right by an arm h against the action of a resiliently held arm l carrying a roller k. The belt is thus extended in a longitudinal direction, as shown in broken lines, and the wrapped article is dropped on the extended portion and fed away to the left.
