Abstract
682,613. Packeting. SCHICK, A. March 31, 1950, No. 8115/50. Class 94(i) A device for setting- up carton blanks of the type shown in Fig. 5 comprises in one form, Figs. 2 and 3, a base 21 formed with arms 22, 23 having curved flanges 29, 30, and a rear wall 24 formed with laterallyextending arms 26, 27 and a handle 25. The arms 26, 27 are formed at their ends with hooks 28 and may be slightly twisted, and the flanges 29, 30 are pointed at their ends 31 which are separated from the arms 22, 23 by notches 32. In use, the hooks 28 are engaged in a pair of notches 7, separating the flaps of the blank and the device is moved relative to the blank to erect the walls 60, 62 and 63. The articles to be packed are then placed in the carton, the wall 61 is folded upwardly after tucking in the flaps 40, and the package is completed by folding down the flaps 50 and engaging the tongue and slot closures 8. In a second form, Figs 9-13 (not shown), the handle comprises two outer sections carrying the lateral arms and flanges and slidable for adjustment purposes ip a central handle section, whereby the device may be adjusted to suit blanks of various widths.
