Abstract

Firebars and grates; air supply, regulating. - Centrally pivoted plates supported at intervals of their length are arranged longitudinally at the bottoms of compartments extending along the underside of a grate and are adapted to be operated independently or simultaneously. As shown in Fig. 1, the pivoted plates C are arranged at the buttons of compartments formed by partitions B under the grate A. A pivoted plate C suitable for a moving firebox D of the box girder type is shown in Figs. 4, 6 and 7. The plate is supported in bearings c<1> and actuated by a rod c<5> through gearing c . c'. When applying the invention to a stationary box girder bar the gear wheels may be dispensed with. The plates may be operated simultaneously through gearing.
