Bodies.-The cross-bars 1 of the lower part of a vehicle body frame are connected to the pillars 8 by gusset plates 7 inserted in slots in the cross-bars and pillars, and the cross-bars are also strengthened by means of inserted flitch plates 2 and by shaped inverted channel members 3 having stiffening plates 3a between the webs and provided with saddle plates 4 for connecting them to the chassis members 10. The intermediate longitudinal members 5 are butt jointed to the cross-bars 1 by means of metal boxbrackets 6.
