496,908. Vehicle bodies; stamping. AMBI-BUDD PRESSWERK GES. Jan. 14, 1938, No. 1283. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1937. [Class 108 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A vehicle body consists of two major parts each comprising a longitudinal stamping or stampings having a contour corresponding to the outline of the vehicle and including the side wall and one half of the roof or floor of the body. As shown, the body comprises two symmetrical stampings 3a, 3b each extending from the lower longitudinal edge of the body up to and across the upper longitudinal edge 4a, 4b and terminating at the central plane 5 of the roof and containing door and window openings and inside reinforcements. The underframe consists of box-like longitudinals 1a, 1b between which the floor panels 2 and cross-members are inserted. The stampings which may be of sheet steel or other mouldable materials may be connected at the central plane 5 e.g. by butt or lap-welding, separate connecting pieces, or through flanges on each stamping, and are pressed by dies 6 in the direction shown by the arrow 7.
