Abstract

542,640. Vehicle bodies. BUDD MANUFACTURING CO., E. G. May 17, 1940, No. 8808. Convention date, May 18, 1939. [Class 108 (i)] A wheel housing for a vehicle body consists of two parts, a part 6 forming an inwardly extending portion of a stamping which includes also the part 5 of the outer shell of the body. The housing is completed by a second stamping 8 which fits over and is welded to the part 6 and which comprises also an integral panel portion 9, which extends forwardly and rearwardly substantially parallel to the part 5. The panel 9 has a flange at 10 which is secured to a rail 11 and it is ribbed longitudinally. Correspondingly ribbed sheets (not shown) extending in the same plane as the panel part 9 are secured to the side edges thereof. The housing is recessed at 18 to receive the floor boards 18a.
