Shedding-motions; dobbies; jacquards.-The bottom doll-head shaft all is driven by a shaft a<9>, which is intermittently oscillated though an arm a<8> thereon having roller and slot connection a' with a rod a<6> driven bv a variable-throw eccentric a<5> on a shaft B. The roller a' is guided by a cam-slot a<13> in a bracket a<11>, so shaped that the ends thereof produce dwells in the movement of the shaft a<9>. By altering the throw of the eccentric a<5>, variable dwells are produced. The slotted arm a<8> may be replaced by a rod pivoted to the eccentric rod a<6> and sliding in a head on the shaft a<9>. An arm on the shaft a<9> may be connected in the usual manner to the dobby-arm or jacquard.
