Abstract
253,383. Gibson, T. July 31, 1925. Spindle apparatus.-In spinning or twisting frames for flax, hemp, jute, or other fibres, wherein the drag is automatically increased by means of a lever so arranged that the weight of the bobbin acts on one arm and a brake is applied to the bobbin by the other arm, the bobbin-carriers B are supported by spindles C which each rest on one arm of a lever D so that the other arm actuates a pivoted brake E which presses the carrier with a force that automatically increases as the bobbin fills. The belt-fork F, Fig. 4, of the frame is provided with an incline f, which, when the rod is operated to stop the frame, actuates a lever to move a rod f<6> so that a blade-spring f<9> thereon actuates the brake E to arrest the bobbin. The Provisional Specification describes a spindle mounted in an adjustable footstep on the lever and having its upper end pointed to engage a plug fixed in the top end of the bobbin carrier.
