Abstract

253,315. Baguley (Engineers), Ltd., and Baguley, E. E. April 30, 1926. Lubricant conveyed' by mechanical means.-In an axle-box a, in which the journal b is lubricated by a roller h in flexible frictional contact with the journal and rotatable thereby in an oil well e in the axle-box, a filler opening f fitted with a closure plug g is arranged on both sides of the box. The front end wall of the box is closed and bears upon the end of the journal. As shown, the lubricating roller h is carried by a spindle i guided by lugs j and pressed upwardly by springs k in holes l in the end walls of the oil well. The roller h is hollow, is provided with holes n, o in its end and peripheral walls, and may have its periphery grooved or covered with felt or like material or both. The brass d may be channelled to assist the flow of lubricant.
