Abstract

249,228. Fritz, E. B. Dec. 23, 1924. Pulping-engines. - In a machine for hydrating, beating, and refining paper making materials, applicable also to other materials such as crushed wood, bagasse, or the like, the material is fed to a reservoir 19 provided with agitators and falls by gravity through a valve-controlled channel 27 to a chamber 10 channeled at 11 to receive discs 12 made preferably in quarter sections and adjustable by screws 14 to rotary discs 15 with which they cooperate. The fixed and rotary discs are tapered as shown and the material passes through the chamber 10 by gravity, and after treatment is collected in a receptacle 21 provided with an outlet 23.
