Abstract

248,160. Harrison, J. A., and Pickford, E. H. Feb. 11, 1925. Ambulances.-In ambulances having a seat of the kind comprising a rotatable member 6 with a seating surface 7 on one side and means for attaching a mattress or stretcher 24 to the other side, a supporting lug 16 and a locking lug 17 are provided, together with bolts 19, 20 which can be moved into the path of the locking lug 17 to hold the seat firmly with either side uppermost. The supporting brackets 10, 11, which are vertically adjustable by means of bolts 12 and engaging projections and recesses 13, are provided with supports 14, 15 for the lug 16, and with a groove 18 for the passage of the lug 17, and the bolts 19, 20, which are preferably tapered, may be mounted upon a common slidable carrier 21. The axis of rotation of the seat may be eccentric, so that when the mattress side is uppermost, the ledge 27 of the ambulance or other vehicle 28 forms a continuation thereof, the ledge acting as an additional support when the seating surface is uppermost. A strecher 24 may be held in position by eyelets 25 and spring hooks 26 engaging the handles.
