Abstract

247,987. Barbier, A. Feb. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Variable-speed gearing.-A linkage comprising gimbal rings spring-pressed against cams conveys circular motion between coaxial driving and driven elements a, d, the speed being reduced and automatically varying. Two rings f, g connected by diametral trunnions t are adapted to run round loosely the one upon a ring c carried on trunnions v on the shaft a, and the other within a ring e connected by trunnions v to the driven drum or pulley d. The driving ring c is kept by a spring h with one edge pressed against a cam m fast on the driven drum. The driven ring e is kept by a spring k with one edge pressed against a cam n fast on the driving shaft. Relative motion of the elements a, d products a wabbling motion with an elastic drive. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also statements that either of the rings c, e may be fixed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
