Abstract

Crank chambers and like casings.-To convert a motor cycle or similar engine into a stationary engine, a cover is provided adapted to replace the ordinary timing gear cover and carrying governor mechanism arranged to be driven by one of the gear wheels, together with starting mechanism adapted to engage the crankshaft, with or without an additional oil pump adapted to be driven by one of the camshaft gears. The crankshaft 1 carries a pinion 2 driving a gear wheel 3 which carries a cam or cams 4 and may drive through gear 16 the additional oil pump 14. In the other direction, the pinion 2 drives, through gear 5, a wheel 6 on the shaft of the magneto 7 and this wheel, which may be relatively wide, drives through gear 12 a governor 10. A detachable cover 8 encloses the gearing and is formed at the top with a box 9 containing the governor. Coaxial with the crankshaft is a starting handle shaft 13 also carried by the cover 8.
