Abstract

171,105. Wills, C. H. Nov. 3, 1920, [Convention date]. Valve-gear.-A drive for overhead cam shafts 10 of V-engines comprises a countershaft 8, driven by two-to-one gearing from the crank shaft 7 and arranged at the base of the V so that the larger gear wheel on the shaft 8 does not extend beyond the engine assembly, and intermediate shafts 9 carrying bevel wheels 14, 15 gearing with larger bevel wheels 13, 16 on the shafts 8, 10 respectively.
