Abstract
215,900. Thomas, J. G. P. March 15, 1923. Valve gear. - In driving-gear for cam shafts comprising two cranks or eccentrics 5, 6 on the half-time shaft connected by rods 7, 8 to similar cranks or eccentrics on the cam shaft 9, for example as described in Specification 168,546, the gear wheel 3 on the halftime shaft is arranged between the rods 7, 8 and carries a weight 12 to balance the connecting-rods. A second cam shaft 20 may be driven from the shaft 9 by gearing 13, 14 or by other cranks or eccentrics on the rods 7, 8. In the latter case, the upper cam shaft need not be carried in bearings.
