Abstract
239,816. Meo, G. de. June 11, 1925. Screw propellers; driving-arrangements for screw propellers.-Screw propellers are situated in recesses of stream-lined form in the side of the hull approximately midships and just above the bilge keel, the propeller shaft axis being within the line of the hull and the power plant being placed close to the recess. The propeller is made up of separate blades each on its own boss and arranged contiguously to form a continuous screw. In the recess A in the side of the hull is placed the propelled shaft B which is supported by a bracket H and passes through the bush C to thrust bearings S and reduction gear drive D of the turbine F. The propeller blades I, each with its own boss keyed to the shaft, are placed to form a continuous screw and are held by end nuts M. The blades may be integral with the boss, or separately and adjustably secured thereto, or made integral with half the boss, the other half forming a cap and being bolted to the first half.
