Abstract
237,078. Palmer, H. C., and Upton, J. B. June 30, 1924. Leaves, sheets, and the like. - Relates to temporary binders of the kind described in Specifications 220,108 and 220,267, in which the catalogues, sheets &c. to be bound are provided with projecting strips having open angular notches, which are adapted to engage fixed pins mounted in the back of the binder. A projecting hinge-piece b, Figs. 2 and 4, in the form of a folded strip of linen or strong paper, is, as heretofore, attached by means of adhesive or otherwise to the binding edge of each catalogue or sheet a. According to the invention, the edge of each hinge-piece is secured within a folded reinforcing-strip c of sheet metal &c., in which are formed the angular notches d to engage the pins g of the binder. Teeth c<2> on one part of the strip care passed through the adhesive strip b, and are clinched through apertures c<3>. In a modification, Fig. 5, the notches d are formed in one edge of the metal strip c, which may be folded on itself to give increased strength, and the opposite edge of the strip is folded so as to form a pair of jaws c<4>. The edge of the adhesive strip b is inserted into the jaws, which are then clamped upon it.
