Abstract
232,731. Copperwaite, F. G. Feb. 21, 1924. Saddles. - A combined saddle-cover and rigid luggage-carrier for a bicycle &c. is adapted to project horizontally over the rear wheel when acting as a carrier and to be swung up as indicated in Fig. 4, to act as a saddle cover. The carrier platform consists of a central rectangular part and two tapered side parts of sheet-metal, adapted to slide relatively to one another to vary the width. The platform is carried by arms D, D<1>, Fig. 3, attached to sleeves C, C' rotatably mounted on a rod I secured to tubes J, J' adjustable on rods K, K<1>, according to the height of the saddle. The rods K, K<1> are fixed to a member L adapted to be clamped by means of a bolt G<2> to the frame stays under the saddle. The platform, when acting as a carrier, is held rigid by two stay rods secured to the back fork.
