Abstract
228,217. Owen, W. H. Sept. 3, 1923. Regenerators.-In furnace provided with a chain or other mechanical grate, the air supply for combustion is heated in two stages as described in Specification, 150,065, the more highly heated air being delivered above the grate. As shown in Fig. 1, the air heater g of tubular or other convenient type is divided into two parts by a partition g<1> or may consist of two separate heaters with suitable air conneetions. The upper section receives all the air to be heated part of which is conducted through the duct h<1> to the space below the grate and the remainder passes through the section of the heater nearer the furnace where it is further heated and delivered through a duct h, passage i, and vents i<1> in the arch e to the space above the grate. According to a modinoation, a feedwater heater or steam superheater or both may be arranged between the two sections of the air heater.
