Abstract
528,269. Controlling air supply. FOSTER WHEELER, Ltd. May 2, 1939, No. 13086. Convention date, May 9, 1938. Addition to 484,529. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] In a boiler having a separately fired superheater arranged within the boiler casing and heated by burners 25, Fig. 3, from which hot gases pass over both the superheating tubes and the boiler tubes, as described in the parent Specification, the air supplies to the boiler and superheater furnaces are separately controlled by dampers 39 on the sides of wind boxes at the front of the furnaces. The separately fired superheater 66, Fig. 15, may be connected in series flow with a superheater 7 arranged between or beyond the boiler tubes. The superheater 66 may consist of U-tubes and may be separated from the boiler tubes at the front of the furnace by a baffle formed of closely place water-tubes or of refractory material and having its upper end spaced from the steam drum 13 to allow the gases to flow from the superheater furnace over the upper part of the boiler tubes 16 to the uptake 26.
