Abstract
227,560. Toplis, L. G. Aug. 1, 1924. Magnetic instruments.-In telephone receivers of like sound recording or reproducing apparatus having magnets with North and South poles on each side of an armature or diaphragm, the similar poles of the two permanent, or constantly excited, magnets are disposed opposite each other, and the speech &c. carrying coils are wound so as to produce opposite effects on opposite sides of the diaphragm or armature. The diaphragm 6 may be clamped between the two halves 1. 2 of the casing, which are drawn together by a ring 7. The magnets 3, 13 may be spaced from the ends of the casing for adjustment purposes by washers 8, 18. An armature 6 may be connected by a rod 27 to a diaphragm 26, Fig. 4. The armature 6 may be attached at each end to a block 6<a>, Fig. 5, which may be adjusted to tighten the armature by means of a screw 6b attaching the block 6<a> to the casing 1.
