Abstract
588,178. Stringed musical instruments. AMPLIFIERS, Ltd., R. S., and GASSON, G. H. O. Feb. 2, 1945, No. 2660. [Class 88 (ii)] An electric pick-up device for use with a musical instrument fitted with steel or steel cored strings 2, comprises a permanent magnet 3 to the pole faces of which are attached a bridge 1 and a block 4, both of steel or other. magnetic material. An adjustable threaded pole screw 5 is fitted into a hole in the block 4, opposite each string, and is fixed by a locking screw 6 of non-magnetic material such as brass. Each pole screw is provided with a bobbin, carrying a coil 7 of fine wire and the coils are connected in series to the input of an amplifier and sound reproducer. To compensate for the greater gap between the steel core of a covered wire and the corresponding pole screw, the coil is provided with a greater number of turns.
