Abstract

Vehicle and like lamps; mounting electric lamps in lanterns.- In a light projector suitable for use in surveying from aircraft, a reflector is adjustably mounted so that it can be moved along its optical axis to vary the divergence of the beam and tilted so as to vary the direction of the beam, and the lamp bulb 1 is independently ad. justable. The projector is partly countersunk into the under surface 3 of the aircraft so as tc minimize head resistance and comprises a casing 2 having a hinged dome-shaped glazed door 4 and containing its axis of rotation 14 at the centre of of the lamp filament. The lamp bulb 1 is mounted with its longitudinal axis at right angles to both the optical axis and the axis of rotatior of the reflector and its holder extends through two outer rings 7, 8 having a base piece 9 bear ing on a boss 12 on the casing, the rings 7, 8 being separated by an intermediate ring 10 mounted on a radial bolt 11 slidably mounted ir the boss 12. By this means the bulb may be rotated about and moved along its longitudinal axis and swung about the axis of the bolt 11.
