543,663. Reflectors, for electric lamps and heaters. HOARE, R. R. Dec. 4,1940. Nos. 17236/40 and 946/41. [Classes 39 (iii) and 75 (ii)] A reflecting system for electric lamps or heaters comprises a part cylindrical reflector a arranged behind the light source and side reflectors c pivoted so as to allow rotation either in the same or opposite directions about the light source. The reflectors c may be straight or parabolic about a focus concentric with the light source or foci on the surface of the light source, if the light source is a frosted or fluorescent tubular lamp. Reflectors may be provided to prevent the escape of light between the reflectors a, c, or the reflectors c may be formed with part cylindrical upper portions b which can slide one over the other. Additional reflectors e which may have blackened portions may be provided to prevent the rays from spreading radially. Typical dimensions of a parabolic reflector are given.
